I'm a Senior Physiotherapist who qualified over 15 years ago. I have worked in acute and community hospital settings as well as Outpatients, mainly in Bath and North East Somerset. I have spent 8 years working for the NHS in community teams visiting people in their homes or care homes, mostly in North East Somerset. I have an excellent rehabilitation track record and wide ranging knowledge and skills base.
I am a Chartered Physiotherapist, HCPC registered and fully insured.
I keep up to date with 'flu vaccinations and always follow government and NHS regulations regarding the infection control regulations and use of PPE.
I started this service in the wake of the COVID pandemic as many things have changed including the NHS's ability to see people with non-urgent rehabilitation needs. You are the people I most want to help.
Whether you need a bit of a boost to stay in your own home, are recovering from illness, surgery or a broken bone, or you have a long term condition that's getting more debilitating, I can help to get you back to optimum health and fitness.
If I can't make a difference - I'll tell you.
If I feel there is someone more appropriate to help you, I'll signpost you to them.
After a period in hospital or respite care, you can often find that you are weaker and less mobile. This puts you at risk of falls and broken bones. I can assess falls risks and offer prevention advice, do walking aid assessments (aids not included), create individual exercise and balance programmes.
Well almost - there may be some pain in locating the areas giving the problem. However the soft touch technique I use to relieve any discomfort is totally pain free. It's ideal to treat older and frail patients, but is a much more comfortable treatment for anybody.
Call me to discuss whether this would be right for you.
I have huge experience in rehabilitating people after they have had surgery, broken bones or suffered an injury. It can be very tiring to recover from any of these things and preferable to rehab at home.
There is no true community or clinic service for rehabilitating people after a limb amputation in BANES. Everything is set up through Bristol Enablement Centre and whatever support can be offered is short term and so often very inadequate.
I have worked with lots of amputees over the years. Every person's challenges are different whether they are a wheelchair or prosthetic user. I am happy to work with you from the day you arrive home, and am used to liaising with the various other services that need to be involved.
Sadly, I have met lots of people living with long term conditions who have been told that basically that they just have to "live with" whatever condition they have got.
This may be true to some extent but often there are things that can be done to help things become easier and more bearable. Some of the conditions where this is the case are: Parkinson's Disease, Multiple System Atrophy, Progressive Supranuclear Palsy, Osteoarthritis, Rheumatoid Arthritis, ME, dementia, cerebral ataxia, back pain, neck pain.
I work with lots of clients to help them maintain quality of life at home.
NEW FOR 2025. Thanks to a grant from Parkinson's UK I have been able to launch and exercise group dedicated to those with Parkinson's. Based at Bishop Sutton Village Hall on Monday's, you can exercise with others, but have your own individual programme designed for your needs and goals. What's more it's fun! We can only take 6 people at a time, but I am considering a second group if there is enough interest. Please contact me for details.
